Human sexuality, unlike calculus, is something you will actually need to know for the rest of your life.

Our Mission

To educate our community about sexual health in all its forms. We believe that realistic sexual health is interdisciplinary, and includes non-traditional topics like LGBTQ+ sex ed, healthy masculinity, gender equality, and reproductive rights. We aim to connect to our peers through dynamic, comprehensive activities that are geared towards the needs of our community.

The state of Ohio has no regulated sex education. The Ohio State University is mostly comprised of the products of Ohio school systems. How can we possibly expect everyone to be on the same page when it comes to sex? Right now, we aren’t even reading the same book.

Sex Week is working to fix that. We hope you will join us.

Why?

  • Because 15-24 year olds account for half of all new STIs (Source: Center for Disease Control and Prevention).

  • Because sex ed in Ohio high schools does not have to be medically accurate (Source: National Conference of State Legislatures).

  • Because nearly half (47%) of transgender individuals were sexually assaulted at some point in their lifetime (Source: National Center for Transgender Equality).

  • Because in 2021, the infant mortality rate in Ohio rose to 7.0 from 6.7 in 2020 for all races—the rate among Black infants rose to 14.2 in 2021 from 13.6 in 2020 (Source: Ohio Department of Health).

  • Because we have to start the conversation before anything can get better.

What We’ve acheived

  • Established a revolutionary student organization dedicated to planning and hosting Sex Week.

  • Collaborated with several Ohio State student organizations and groups that share similar values and are working towards the same goals as us.

  • Worked with 4 Ohio State colleges and departments that support the mission of Sex Week.

  • Involved community organizations like Equitas Health, Kaleidoscope Youth Center, Moms2B, and Planned Parenthood to make Sex Week as inclusive and intersectional as possible.

  • Established a core group of members who are the driving force behind this movement.

  • Successfully hosted Sex Week in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 with hundreds of attendees yearly!
